Alconbury hosts another Make Your Mark event

03.04.23

Urban&Civic organised another Make Your Mark event in March 2023 to inspire young women to pursue a career in the development industry by showcasing some of the diverse roles and skills needed to create a sustainable new place; literally shaping the landscape around them.

Over 80 female students from secondary schools across Huntingdonshire visited Alconbury Weald to find out about the wide range of career paths and opportunities available and meet some of the amazing female role models within the project team at Alconbury Weald and our consultants helping bring the new community forward.

The event also provided hands on work to enable these young women to help shape the designs of future green space and public realm coming forward at Alconbury Weald, and empower them to get involved in similar discussions for other new developments within the region.

The event was supported by organisations who are part of the development’s design team including planners David Lock Associates, landscape and ecology experts Bradley Murphy Design and designers of bespoke playground equipment Jupiter Play.  It was also supported by the charity Make Space for Girls, which supports the role of women and girls in designing the world around them.

This was an absolutely fabulous event! Such an incredible, interesting, and inspiring insight into careers these girls could go into when they are older. They were absolutely buzzing on the way home; they all want to move and work in Alconbury Weald and are already asking if we can organise another trip!
