The business

In 2024, Urban&Civic acquired L&Q Estates who had been in the business of identifying, promoting and acquiring land for over 60 years.

The acquisition aligns with the Catesby Estates business model and builds on their already significant land portfolio and unrivalled expertise in promoting land for development.

This, combined with their already significant financial backing, provides Catesby Estates with a clear platform advantage over other land promotion businesses and establishes them as a market leader within the sector.

Strategic land promotion

As a business solely focused on strategic land promotion and infrastructure delivery, they are well placed to fully assess land opportunities and understand the prospects of obtaining planning consent and the ability of quality housebuilders to deliver schemes which complement and enhance the area and local community.

Landowners choose to partner with Catesby Estates, due to their in-house expertise and track record in successfully delivering planning consents and ability to maximise land value.

Land model

They identify sites which are suitable for residential development, then use their in-house expertise and financial resources to fund the land promotion. After obtaining planning permission the site is then marketed to housebuilders securing the highest possible return for the landowner.

Their sites range from 35–2,000 homes on predominately greenfield sites, with in-depth consideration given to infrastructure, community needs and the socio-economic benefits that new housing brings to an area.

Collaborative approach

Catesby Estates have a collaborative approach to land promotion, with a commitment to engagement, sensitive design and delivery of community benefits.

Their sites have not only provided new homes, but also a range of facilities for new and existing residents to enjoy from public open spaces, children’s play areas, cycle and footpath routes, allotments and community orchards to land for new schools.
