Catesby Estates, together with our parent company Urban&Civic were delighted to host a virtual presentation for students from Harper Adams University.

This is the third consecutive year we have worked with the university delivering a range of support from guest lectures and Q&A sessions, to hosting site tours and sponsoring student awards to help bridge the gap between academic study and real-world experience.

The session formed part of the students’ wider learning as they complete their final year studies in Real Estate, Rural Property Management and Environmental Land Management.

During the virtual event, Katie Yates from Catesby and Johanne Thomas from Urban&Civic presented on a range of topics including:

  • The differences between the two businesses and how they collaborate;
  • The land promotion model and current planning environment;
  • The story of Houlton — from its origins as the Rugby International Radio Station to its transformation into a thriving community with schools, open spaces and sustainable infrastructure.

The session provided valuable insight into how large-scale, master-planned developments are brought forward, and the importance of community, design quality, and sustainability in long-term placemaking.

In addition to our work with Harper Adams, Catesby Estates has also been working closely with the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) for a number of years, delivering presentations to their students on land promotion and planning.  Our ongoing collaboration includes sponsorship of academic modules for Real Estate and Rural Land Management students, helping to enrich the curriculum and support the development of future professionals entering the land and property industry.

Through these educational partnerships, Catesby Estates continues to invest in the next generation of land and planning specialists, by sharing knowledge and experience.
