Investing in Knowledge: Catesby Estates Team Completes RAU Farming Update

19.12.25

Members of the Catesby Estates team attended an ‘Agricultural Industry & Farming Update’ course at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) in Cirencester.

This course, a follow-up to the 2023 session, provided an overview of the farming sector for those with limited prior experience.

The course covered the farming year, current challenges for farmers, livestock production and profitability, crop identification and rotations, machinery, and the latest technology and innovation.

Theory sessions were complemented with a practical site visit to Coombe End, a privately owned estate spanning 2,500 acres in the heart of the Cotswolds AONB.

During the visit, the team met with members involved in the arable farming operations, toured the estate’s state-of-the-art grain store and explored some of the plant and machinery used on the wider estate.

Highlights included Myron and Adrian taking a seat in a combine harvester—a memorable hands-on experience!

At Catesby, much of our work involves interacting with farmers, landowners, and rural agents. Having a solid understanding of the agricultural sector helps us build stronger relationships and better understand some of the challenges our landowners face.
