Avant Homes to deliver first new homes as part of Newark Urban Expansion with planning granted for £48m development
Midlands housebuilder Avant Homes has been granted planning permission to build 173 new homes as part of the Newark urban extension project at Middlebeck.
Avant Homes has acquired a 16.8-acre site for the £48m development, which forms part of the initial stage of the £500m Growth Point project planned for the south of Newark, by Urban & Civic.
Richard Coppell, development director for Urban & Civic, master developers for Middlebeck, said: We are delighted to welcome Avant Homes as our first house builder at Newark. This is a significant milestone for the project and signals the start of large scale housing delivery at Middlebeck. The first phase of the Southern Link Road has really transformed the land and we are looking forward to building on this momentum over the coming months with the first homes, on site roads and green spaces at Middlebeck.”
The properties built by Avant Homes will be a mixture of innovatively designed homes including three, four and five-bedroom semi-detached and detached homes. Groundworks are expected to commence in May 2017, with the first homes ready for occupation by January 2018.
As well as 3,150 new homes, the Newark urban extension project will provide new schools, community facilities and extensive green spaces and amenities including walkways, footpaths and cycleways.
The site benefits from excellent connections to the town centre and the wider area. A new 5km Southern Link Road, connecting the A1 to the A46 along the southern fringe of Newark, is also a key feature of the project. Phase one of the road is already complete and as a result, the land has been unlocked for the first homes at Middlebeck, which will be built by Avant Homes.
Avant Homes Midlands managing director, Glyn Mabey, said: “We are very pleased to be the first housebuilder to be granted planning permission to begin building as part of this exciting project for Newark and the surrounding area.
“This development will offer buyers exceptional quality and innovative design features and we are looking forward to work getting underway in May.”
